Modern sporting rifles

Am I the only one who gets peeved every time a person calls a Modern sporting rifle an "assault weapon"? I get tired of thread after thread of people crying about how Ca is banning assault weapons when part of the problem is how we referrer to them. I personally do not own an assault weapon, rather I own sporting rifles. Rant done!

I get peeved when people call anything a modern sporting rifle. I won't call them that. It's ak, ar, or whatever it is called. Assault rifle does not bother me. I own several.

I much prefer assault weapon or assault rifle, although I just call them rifles, firearms, or guns. I also use silencer and not "suppressor."

Modern sporting rifle is dumb as hell.

Just like people said above, call it what it is: AR-15, AK-47, Hi Point 9mm carbine, etc.

when someone asks me if its an assault rifle i tell them ALL my guns are capable of assault - that's one of the reasons i buy them

When in conversation, if I hear "assault rifle" thrown around I begin to refer to my weapons as "defensive rifles." their facial expression changes as they compute 2 definitions of the same weapon.

The word "assault" is used to define a particular designed rifle, and to install fear in the general public about such, when in fact it can be used to define any firearm. So where does it end? Next it could be used against us to install fear over semi auto handguns, or even semi auto shotguns in an effort to ban those as well. I use the term "modern sporting rifle" only as a means to take away the fear that comes from using the term "assault".

I have never used the term "modern sporting rifle" to describe an AR-15, and I never will. It's asinine.

Assault Weapon is an annoying term used by douche bag antis , and don't know of any gun guys that use this term.
As far as " Modern sporting rifle" sorry that sounds a lot like capitulating to me.
