Modified Old Bullet Button for 2017

What if I remove the spring from the old bullet button, screw down the nut all the way down, that would be considered break action because that is the only way to load rounds. Legal? I honestly do not want to spend $55 on a ARMagLock.

Other people have talked about replacing the spring with a spacer, so your idea should work if there are enough threads. To be "safe" legally, you may want to fill in the hole with something so you can't take the maglock apart again

What if you needed to disassemble the lock to replace the magazine if it breaks or whatever the case may be?

My thought is epoxying a trimmed down .22 lr case overy the hole. Then you can drill it out if needed. Another way is to drill out the mag catch. Ether way isn't good from our standpoint, became you're distroying a part of your rifle, but it MAY keep our rulers happy.

Another option is to leave the spring in, and seal the bb hole using the epoxied in .22 shell. That way you can get to the mag catch through the inside of the mag. Some people on calguns have issues with this, but imho it follows the letter and spirit of the law. You need to break open an ar or disassemble the mag to be able to get to the mag catch. Worried about the mag disassembly part? Make it so you can't remove the floor plate.

So if you took out the spring and screwed it all the way down you would still be able to remove it with a tool without opening the action so that method doesn't help you.

Magazines are consumables and eventually get thrown away.
