Are you in CA? If so, find a buyer then both of you should visit a local gun store to do a Person-To-Person transfer (PPT)

Or was that Private Party Transfer? Either way, a transfer is simple.

Btw, what kind of firearm is it?

Why would you sell a family heirloom, especially a firearm? Pass it down through the generations.

They did not register the WWII firearms. They gave bring back papers which are a bonus now for collecting but not required. Unless it is a full automatic it will not be a problem.

If it is a long gun in original configuration, you can sell it directly to a C&R FFL w/COE and no PPT required. PM me what you got

The first thing you might want to do is find out it's approximate value by posting up a "what's it worth" thread or even just letting us know its make, model and overall condition, here in this thread.

I say that because if you have a rarity and a few people on here saying it's worth a lot of money then you know you can move this up on the priority list take care of it and put the money in your pocket or you might find out it's not worth a lot of money (or least would you think is a lot of money) and change your mind about the whole thing.

                        What do you have?

Check out the C&R forum here, you can probably find a buyer for whatever it is there.

                          Post pics.

Until then, I will start the bidding at $10.00, sight unseen.

More than likely it was made after 1898 so it was to be PPT thru an 01FFL or can be cash and carry to an 03FFL ( in CA ).

if it is antique ( made before 1898 ) then it is cash and carry.

What is the rifle? You might be surprised just how available ammunition for it is.
