    CA compliant S&W Shields online?

    I have decided on a Smith & Wesson Shield 9mm. I see them at Turner's and around OC from $395-$440. I see them online at Palmetto for $289 no safety to $319 w/ safety. Palmetto's are 3.12" barrels, and don't appear to have the round indicators on top, and the CA roster says 3" barrel. My question is: Are the Palmetto ones "non-CA compliant?" Do I have to suck it up and fork out the $400+ here in CA? Thanks in advance. -III

    Fork over the cash locally and take advantage of the $75 rebate. All have the same 3.12" barrel, and all CA Shields have LCI & mag disconnect.

      Online sales usually state CA Compliant. If it doesn't have the LCI and mag disconnect it definitely not CA Compliant. Just buy it locally.

        Look for SKU 187021. Best online deal I found was Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. $345, free shipping. They took almost two weeks to ship it, but it arrived to my FFL no problem.

        Grab your Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm Centerfire Pistol (California Compliant) for sale at Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.

          But $345 + $60 transfer fee => retail price.

              But there isn't tax online, right? I see the Sportsmans one now.

                Yes there is. It is called 'use tax' and don't be surprised if the FFL you pick up from charges it. If they don't they could be in trouble with the BOE.

                  if you're close by.. they may be the cheapest around and it's in stock.

                  After the rebate and all, you'll be about 337 OTD.

                      My FFL charges a $25 transfer fee, making the "retail equivalent" price $370. I couldn't find a LGS in my area offering it for $370 or less. RifleGear in SoCal is $360, which is the best I've seen in CA.

                        $25 is unusually low and that would make sense to shop online sometimes. Others would probably like to know who it is if you want to say.

                        Many FFLs have high transfer fees to discourage online purchases. For larger FFLs $25 probably barely covers their cost of handling the transfer.

                            Good place and good people. Bought several things there but never transferred in anything.
