    Sig Sauer P226 value

What is the best way to determine the value of my Sig Sauer P226 9mm? It is a real West German double stack model with all the proofing stamps to verify. It has night sights and Houge grips.

A picture would help.....also condition, does it come with original box, etc.... as much info as you can provide will help with people that know about these things determine a value or there abouts

A West German would be an off roster PPT since it won't have the dreaded LCI and Mag disconnect, so that might add a premium to the value.

The nights sights if they are dimming may take away from the value.

How many smileys are on the underside of the barrel? What is the color of the rail wear? That usually shows how many rounds have truly gone through that frame.

Do not mean to hijack, but an interesting way of estimating a round count was mentioned. Anybody have an estimate on my P226 barrel. I lost count a long time ago so I just thought I would see what any of you may think.

              Good looking Sig Beandip

Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

Any other state in the union, I'd guess 600-700. Here in CA? You could probably find someone willing to pay 800 to 1000 for the vintage frame and no LCI/magazine disconnect.

Start out at 1200 and say the price is firm then take the price down a little at a time and say the same thing..

I agree with this...being a german should add $100-150...here in Cali, I'd say $950to $1k. These are my favorite 9mm period! I'd never sell mine.

My 226 says Made in Germany. I think W. Germany adds some value, doesn't it?

Ones marked W Germany are 1995 and eariler. Yours is a KA which is 1990.

Sorry I phrased my response poorly. I usually look at smileys and rail color to see how well used the Sig is. However, I don't know of any direct correlation of rail wear/smileys to estimated rounds fired. More like categories of
                              1. barely used.

                              3. very very used.

I’ve had a handful of e-mails asking how to tell if a used Sig is still in good shape or not. After writing the same e-mail over and over for the last five years, I figured it was time to post my thoughts on what to look at when you’re going to purchase a used…
