    Stack on gun cabinet

I tried searching for reviews on stack on gun cabinets, but nothing came up (could be tapatalk). Anyone have experience with them, any opinions?

I've also heard of secureit. Input appreciated.

It's a basic metal box. Offers about the same level of security as a locked closet.

I got an 8-gun version a few weeks ago when Dick's had it for $65. Not much to be said other than it keeps honest people and kids out.

I have one. It's not ideal, but considering it's behind several other locked doors, I think it does it's job fine. It'd be a totally different story if I was a first-floor dweller or lived in a different area.

        edit: Two things to note:

        1) Take the number of guns they hold with a grain of salt. Unless you like a cluttered mess and moving things around, divide the stated number by at least two.

        2) Be extremely careful putting things on the left side of the safe. If they fall, they can interfere with the locking mechanism.

Wait for sales. You can get a Stackon safe for almost the same price as a cabinet. Walmart and Big 5 put them on sale often. They're not great safes, but better than just a cabinet.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

Junk. Step up to a Steel safe not a Cabinet.

I put a shelf on the bottom. Rifles go on top of it and handguns on the bottom. I also hung pistol bags on magnets. Decent storage. Secure against kids and smash and grab thieves.

I have two of the larger stackons. Bought them 25 years ago and have used them all that time except for the bedside revolvers. I hang one of the dehydrators in each. The kind you plug in to redry them. They're upstairs and do the job of keeping kids and visitors out. Yes, easier to cart out by two men than a safe.

If you must. Look at your priories and decide if your investment in your gun collection warrants a higher level of security against theft and fire. I suggest you look at your tax return this year and see how much you ended up paying in taxes. The purchase of a vault may be used as a tax write off. If your going to pay 3 grand in taxes it would be dumb not to buy a vault. I recommend Fort Knox safes because they are not "gun safes" rather they are vaults and if your protecting your documents and the like its a valid write off...it's just a bonus it holds 40 guns

The main reason I like a safe so much more is the fire protection. Look at the ratings on some of the Fort Knox stuff.

Absolutely, the door can be easily pried open with a large screwdriver. If this is the best that one can do, you will need to wrap a chain around it for real security.

It is worth it to save up for a real gun safe and bolt it to the floor.

Is CA compliant, but it also not a real safe.

That said criminals can get into almost anything.

                        GUN CABINET VS GUN SAFE

I first bought a gun cabinet because I couldn't afford a safe. Sam's came into town and offered a 32 gun safe for $600.00. I had saved up my money and bought the safe, glad I was young at the time because it weighed 550 lbs. I have a subfloor home so I installed it in my garage with a humidity control for the safe. It has 45 minutes of 1200 degrees fire protection, I love it. I use the cabinet for my ammo now, I installed shelves and each shelf has different calibers of ammo, works for me. Not sure but don't think a gun cabinet is up to the standards in Commiefornia.

                        WHAT ABOUT YOU???

As others have said it is not a safe but is instead a security cabinet to keep kids out. I have one and it meets my needs, but you need to understand its limitations and verify it works for you. I personally like the welded versions and not the "some assembly required" type.

I know it's not a safe... It's a locking cabinet. The cheap safes from 500-1500 really don't provide much for protection from theft or fire. So it's either from my understanding something that is 3k+ or might as well get a cabinet.
I like that they are portable, a huge vault is a nightmare to move. So it will need to take up space in the garage.

Have one. For the price they're ok but you're much better off with a heavy, AMERICAN MADE, safe.
