KG99 Transfer

I met someone who has a California registered KG99 that he is willing to sale. Can I buy this from him PPT? just want to know before we meet up to do paperwork and find out it is not possible.

California registered "assault weapons" can not be transfered to normal folks in California. He can only sell to somebody who lives outside of California, either by taking it to an out of state Dealer to sell or by shipping it to an out of state Dealer through a California Dealer who has an A/W permit.

I don't see the KG-99 on the Roberti-Roos list, but as designed, it is a California A/W based on features. If the gun is really marked "Interdynamic KG-99" or "Intratec KG-99" then I suppose he could modify the gun to have a fixed 10 round magazine and then ask CalDOJ to cancel his A/W registration. Then he could sell it to you via a PPT at a Dealer. But if the gun is marked "Intratec TEC-9" then he can not cancel the A/W registration.

I was asked about this by the OP. As far as 'features' are concerned, remember that not all KG99s have a ventilated barrel shroud. If the mag was 10 rounds and pinned/locked, what other features would a KG99 'Mini' have that prevents it from being a transferable pistol in CA?

Seeing as how once the magazine is locked it is no longer regulated by California's AW laws, nothing, even if it had a barrel shroud.

You could even extend the barrel and fix a single shot to be able to ship it to an FFL and be roster exempt. Even then though, you could only ever have a max capacity of 10 rounds with a fxed magazine required without it being registered as an AW.

cut down the mag release so that it requires a tool to remove the mag. Just like a "bullet button". PRKArms has sold quite a few intratecs...

Aw's can be transfered in CA as long as they are not in AW configuration and not listed by name in the ban and they are removed from the AW list. A Intratec tec9 is listed so you can not have that. The Interdynamic KG99 is an earlier gun, different company name and not listed. So the kg99 is banned by features. The KG99 has the mag outside the pistol grip area of the gun so it can not have a detachable mag, thats why you take the release off and cut it short. That way you need a tool and that by definition is not detachable.

If the gun you want to get is registered it needs to be compliant as far as features go. The gun can be modified then the registered aw owner can submit paperwork to the DOJ to have it taken of the AW list. It can be done and can be a pain with the DOJ.

I was going through this with a seller of an AB10. After three months we gave up.
