    gun ranges in marin

can anyone recommend any ranges around marin/ sonoma county?
i found quite a few trap/skeet and rifle ranges, but not many indoor pistol now that bullseye is gone.

i only like the indoor for pistol because you can move targets and get your target whenever rather than a timed shooting session for newer shooters i bring.

The closest indoor ranges to Marin are going to be either Jackson Arms in S.SF or Reed's in Santa Clara.

For outdoor ranges, its either Circle S in W. Marin/Sonoma Co. or Richmond Rod and Gun over in Richmond. Both of which only have 25yd. pistol bays.

There are other choices but most of them are over an hour one way.

I'm on the same boat as you, OP. I go to San Leandro pistol range. They do not rent firearms there- and I prefer it that way.

Richmond has updated their pistol range. IIRC they have ~20 fixed 25y positions, 6 or 8 15y positions, and ~4 moveable (3y-25y) target stand positions. All outdoor, but the bench area is well covered.

o i havnt been back to the richmond range in a year. how would the 4 moveable targets work outside? one thing i dislike about some outdoor ranges are the roof area sometimes comes down what seems to feel too far. im a bit tall

The fixed distance positions are similar to the target frames they had at Chabot, wood construction. The moveable targets are made with two vertical wood posts, about 2"x2"x5' tall, attached to a steel frame base. The cardboard target backing is stapled to upper section of the wood posts. You just pick up the whole thing and move it to the distance you prefer, distances are marked on a wall running the depth of the range. Most people seem to use an adhesive shoot-n-c type target on the cardboard.
