minimum purchase requirment from firearm manufactures ?

    helllo
    i am looking into opening a gun store in atlanta { no competition to you , lol }
and am hoping that some of the current FFL HOLDERS wouldnt mind helping me
with a lil inside information to save me some time and heart ache .

i would like to know if firearm manufactures have a minimum purchase requirement
and if so what is the common number.

ANY INFORMATION YOU GUYS CAN GIVE WOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND GREATLY APPRECIATED .....

    THANKS

    Welcome to CalGuns Joe.

You would get much better answers from the actual FFLs that inhabit CG. They have their own discussion forum. Here is a link.

I had an 07 FFL back in the 1980's. I contacted different gun manufacturers, and only the smallest ones would sell direct to me. All the big ones only sold to their distributors.
I also contacted Winchester, Federal, and Remington about purchasing ammo ($50,000 at one time). Federal was the only company that got back to me. They wouldn't sell direct. I would have to go through their distributor. The distributor wanted to charge me more than what I could buy it for in the store. There wasn't a single thing I could buy to resell that was cheaper than what anyone else could buy it for at any store. It was rediculous. I asked several gun shops how they could do it, but they wouldn't tell me.

You setup with large distributors and go from there. Small manufacturers will work with you. You will need about 250k to start. Guns add up real quick. Will you offer gunsmithing or other type work? Find what can seperate you from the rest of the shops in your area. Used guns and accessories are where you make your money. Not in new gun sales because many don't make you good profit.
        So much online competition nowdays.

I would also have 6 months rent in the bank plus whatever your operating cost will be. I recommend networking with small shops as well and see what they sell or what type of clients they cater too. Ie: cowboy, ar tactical, long range shooting ect.

There are very few small shops that buy direct.... one of the sporting clays ranges was picked up by a wealthy man.... he refused to buy from a distributor and spent a ton buying direct.

He became know in the industry as he spent a few million on his first quarter for inventory......

How did you find cal guns?
Have you spoken to the NRA about FFL training classes?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
