Santa Ynez Shooting Range (Santa Barbara)

    Hello All,

Just wanted to see if anyone had any information about the Santa Ynez Shooting Range in Santa Barbara, it looks like it is very close to Lake Cachuma off Hwy 154 and can be found on google maps. I tried searching some old posts and there didn't seem to be a definitive answer. I did find a website and a phone number, but not much info there and no one seems to be answering the phone or returning messages. http://www.cgsta.com/central/santaynez.htm

I'll be camping at Lake Cachuma and it'd be great to shoot a few rounds while there. Please let me know if you have any information.. Thanks!

Hows the movie theater? Any good restaurants? I'd like to shop, recommend some stores? Need medication refill, good place for prescriptions? May want a masseuse, any recs? Thinking of adopting a dog, hows the shelter? Will it be cold, should I bring a jacket? I'll probably need an oil change, any shops?

Just go there and enjoy the experience.

There is the Winchester range but that's the only one I know, other than Glass Factory (not sure if still open) in SB.

Don't mind me, just giving you grief.

Go and enjoy the range, maybe check some BLM maps for other areas as a backup.

I have heard that it is a semi private range and somewhat hard to get in. I am a member at Winchester and wouldn't even attempt to shoot at the glass factory as there are too many idiots that go there.

glass factory is open right now. I have not been to the Santa Ynez range, I think it is members only but don't know for sure. You can go to Winchester or glass factory, they close the factory after the fire hazard becomes too great.

I shoot at both, I like Winchester, I definitively feel safer there with all the regimented shooting, but I still to glass factory for fun. I find it more fun to shoot at something besides a paper target at X feet from me, at the factory you can set up a target if you want or shoot at something else and different. Remember take out what your brought at the factory.

I think that is a private range. I have driven there on many occasions and have been met with an empty range and locked gates.

Since you'll be at Cachuma could always drive up into Figueroa Mountain and find a spot to plink away. I do believe the fire restrictions have been lifted and it's kind of a nice little drive through the foothills into the forest with some cool primitive camping.
