    Alameda County MC fun shoot

    Hi,
    I got the following email and thought there might be others interested. The idea of introducing new people to the sport is a good one and you don't have to be a MC member. I'm not sure I can make this shoot because I'm taking care of my 4-year old on that sunday.

    --------------------------------------------------------------
    You're all invited to attend the

    NRA MEMBERS' COUNCIL OF ALAMEDA COUNTY'S

    SEPTEMBER FUN SHOOT

    Sunday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m.

    At the Livermore Rod & Gun Club

    Introduce a non-shooter to guns!

    We're holding our September 2006 Fun Shoot at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, at the Livermore Rod & Gun Club (address and directions follow below).

    THIS IS ALL ABOUT INTRODUCING NEW SHOOTERS TO OUR CULTURE! WE EXPECT YOU TO BE THERE UP FRONT AND CENTER!

    Introduce non-shooters to guns! Our Fun Shoots have two basic objectives. The first, of course, is to get MC members together so we can get to know each other while we have lots of fun enjoying one of our favorite pastimes. The second objective is much more important. It's to introduce newcomers to our sport.

    Bring your friends! In that spirit, you're all urged to invite your family, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, your spouses and your significant others to join us. Especially your spouses and significant others!

    Plan to share! THIS IS IMPORTANT! You're also urged to bring plenty of guns and ammo to share with any beginning shooters that we host!

    THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT! Invite your non-shooting friends! That's what this is all about!

    Discount! MC Fun Shoot participants have been granted the privilege of shooting at the $6.00 member's rate instead of the normal $12.00 non-member fee. When you check in with the rangemaster, be sure to mention that you're with the MC Fun Shoot. That will insure that you get the discount.

    Barbecue! If enough people sign up for it, we'll have a barbecue lunch. We need at least 15 people willing to partake of a $7.00 prix-fixe hamburger meal to make it happen. E-MAIL ME BACK AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE UP FOR THE CHOW!

    Caveats: All firearms except for .50 BMG are allowed at the Livermore range. However they do have the following restrictions:

    * No .50 BMG firearms.
    * No steel-core or armor-penetrating ammunition. (Ammo will be checked with a magnet.)
    * No rapid fire.
    * No exploding targets.

    Range fees are each individual's responsibility. The range is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the range fees cover a three-hour period.

    Sounds like a good time! I have to say though, when I first read the title I thought "Alameda County MC Fun Shoot" meant "Alameda County MC (motorcycle club) fun shoot.

      unfortunately, a magnet can't tell the difference between steel core and mild steel jacket......
