So... I am in the the middle of (hopefully) getting my ccw in Orange County. Today I was contacted from someone from the ocsd saying one of the three handguns on my application is not registered to me. About 10 years ago I was a the gun show at the fairgrounds and saw a "regular joe" with a sign saying handguns for sale. We talked for a bit and he was selling a few of his guns. I decided to buy a used Taurus pt745 off him in great condition in original box with both mags and what not. I want to say it was 300 bucks. Now comes the tricky part. We went inside and found a local dealer who would do the personal transfer for us. I waited the 10 days and went to pick it up from the store and all has be great since. Now ocsd is saying it's not registered to me! And with my damn luck I can't find the paperwork anywhere and I can't remember where the Damn gun shop was. I wanna say it was in La Mirada, La habra, or Whittier but not sure. I am out of ideas on how to get this resolved. As far as my ccw they are just going to delete the gun off of my application which is not a big deal. I have plenty more to fill it's spot. But I don't know what to do about this damn gun. Any ideas?

Turn it in, might be stolen, for all you know you were setup by the seller and dealer who did transfer, it's just a Taurus, not that great a lossNRA Lifetime member

File a Volreg form
I would also attach a sheet of paper that explains you acquired it via a FFL.
You might also file a personal request for firearms record and see if there is a Taurus on there perhaps with a transposed serial number. You might do it before you file the Volreg. They will send you a list of all firearms in the system in your name.

Skyhawk- thank you for the info! And I am very pleased to announce that they contacted me this morning to inform me I was approved for my ccw I pick it up next week. I will keep you all posted on what happens with that Taurus.Comment

Update- I just saw this old post and thought i would update everyone. I filled out the Volreg form and sent it in and poof it was fixed. Thank you @SkyHawkComment
