Smith and Wesson Magazine Identification

I recently bought a magazine for my S&W Model 39-2. When I received it I realized it was short. Anyone know what it could be for?

I got this particular one from gun broker. Contacted the seller, and they say they will get back to tomorrow what ever that means. Trying to get a better grasp on what it could be. Certainly looks like a 39 mag but it's a half inch short. Trying to educate myself on what it could be. Either way I guess I'm still searching for a 39-2 mag.
