    Desert shooting

    Hello everyone!
im new to the forum but been shooting for a while now.

I wanted to go shooting in the desert and even bought a BLM map of Victorville to find a spot.

The issue i am having is i am uncertain of where i can go shooting. the BLM map i bought(labelled Surface Management status 2012) states that south on Hodge road is good(because it is labelled BLM lands which allows shooting according to the map the way i read it) yet i see a lot of people saying online that south of Hodge road is not good for shooting.

To make matters more confusing i found this map that states north of hodge road is cool and south isn't.

I understand people here don't like to talk about their preferred shooting spots because of people leaving a mess, but i am hoping to get some help as to what source i should trust on where to go shooting.

    Any help would be appreciated.

South of the I15 @ hodge rd is no good, its OHV area, the area north of hodge rd is where most go.
And stay away from the cell site like said above.

Head north on the 395 10 miles north of Kramer Junction. Go anywhere to the east of the 395, there's less off roaders on the east side.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

BLM says you can generally shoot on their land, but you must comply with all other state, local and county laws. So you do have to follow the SB map you correctly obtained.

You are on the right track. For a better BLM map, try the desert access guides.

Stay away from the cell tower, don't forget your bullet proof vest and Kevlar helmet...

Take route 66 off the 15 and head to and through Silverlakes about 1-2 miles out. Stay to the right Good to go.

Driving by Hodge the other day and it looks like they had taken the cell tower down. Just a backhoe with a concrete breaker mounted on it, setting where the tower had been. I had commented to my wife awhile back wondering how many bullet holes where in the wall and structure.
