My 1964 1/2 Mustang Sold for $2460.00 new. By OP's logic since it is still like new I should only sell it for that price????

Only slaves don't need guns
We stand for the Anthem, we kneel for the crossOriginally posted by epilepticninjaAmericans vs. Democrats
We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.
What doesn't kill me, better run -
Brother who was making a comparison, I was simple asking the OP what he thought would be a fair asking price for it.unfair comparisons to those that are listing a bare bones Gen 4 glock42/43 in the marketplace for $850 for just the gun, regular sights, and 2 10 round mags.
if you offered your entire package for $850, no one would complain about the price, and it would sell quickly. because with all the extras it makes the price worth it.
edit: for those that keep yelling "free market", it isn't a free market. is a Oligopoly since the supply is artificially constrained by the government (ie gun roster), and the supply is only from a few exempt people while the demand is from "everyone".
off-roster gun prices in CA since the closing of the SSE ability is now rigged. those who can get off-roster guns in easily, can set whatever price they want b/c there is no competition. you think a LEO would risk jail time to sell off-roster guns in sufficient quantities especially now after that whole big story with those other LEO's that got caught? nope.
you think your average joe is gonna get their family involved with illegal selling by using the intra-familial transfers to get off-rosters into the state? no.
so the only time a off-roster gun comes to the marketplace is only on the off-chance that one of these exempt people decides to sell off something they don't like or trying to keep it on the hush and sell off 1-2 guns a year for some non-taxed profit. with how much some guns can go for, that can be $300-$500 easily of bonus cash from each sale to have on hand maybe for an upcoming vacation or funding for something else.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Welcome to Calguns.Obviously we see what guys are trying to get for their Glock 42 and 43's, but come on guys! I was at Guns Direct yesterday and they have a Glock 43(Obviously LEO only) that was sitting in the case for under $400! People are really asking $850 or more?? Ripping off fellow gun lovers doesn't settle well with me.

1. Glock - Why would anyone even want a Glock
2. "Leo Only" Well join the force and you can buy. The rest of us cannot.
3. Under $400 +tax (9%) = $436
4. Asking $850 is what they are asking so not really an actual price until someone pays $850.
5. Ripping off - what does that mean? If I pay $850 how is he "ripping me off".
6. Settle well - Well than don't buy it.
These threads always crack me up. When you compare "LEO Prices" or "Free States" or whatever that doesn't apply to the majority of us, then it's really not a fair comparison.
The Marketplace (any marketplace) is actually self regulating. A $850 Glock 42/43 will have 3 pages of bumps and if you see a "SPF" you really don't know what it went for. For all you know someone offered $436 and the buyer took it.
I tend to list my guns at a price that will sell quick as I don't have time to count 24hrs, and bump, and haggle and what not. I just sold a VP9 LE with 1 mag for $950. Got an "I'll take it" in like 10 minutes. Met him the next day. Wham Bam done!
Did I "rip him off". I don't know, I paid $1000 for that particular VP that goes for $545 on Bud's Guns Online. Heck I had 5 guys in line at that price.
So where were we? Of yeah is $850 too much for a Glock. Not if you want one, you are not a LEO, and you have the money.

Another point about guns that get shot a lot is that the price of the gun itself becomes irrelevant over time compared to the price of ammo.
Consider that if you reload and save only just $30-$40 per trip, in ten trips or so you saved more than the initial cost of an overpriced Glock. Yet few people complain about the cost of "not reloading."
Doesn't make it right, but it puts it into perspective.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

This again.
OP, if the price is too high, nobody will buy. A firearm is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, not one penny more or less. Someone with something desirable and largely unobtainable is selling it for an amount someone else is willing to part with. Both parties are in agreement. How does that equate to someone being ripped off?"A vote is like a rifle; it's usefulness depends upon the character of the user." - Theodore RooseveltComment
