Another dealer over charging for ppt's

Reading the current dealer blast thread reminded me of a gun I sold last week. We went to Gun World in Burbank since the buyer already did a ppt in Los Angeles and Turners reminded us we can't do it at the Reseda store.

Charge at Gun World was $55! I was going to check out their pistols since I had some cash burning a hole in my pocket but as soon as I signed the paperwork I quickly left.


Also, they had a TRS25 red dot for $129.99 vs $69.99 on Amazon. I'd gladly pay extra to support local ffl's but at almost double the price, nah.

Please show receipt. Were you forced to buy a $20 lock? Are you going to inform on them to DOJ?

Seems to be an ongoing trend.

I had a pleasant experience with the folks at Peninsula Tactical; they didn't hesitate in doing two separate PPT's for me and also didn't charge a cent extra. Bought a handgun from them just because

I don't have the receipt since I was the seller. There was no mention of a lock, just a simple statement: "that'll be $55 for the transfer".

Usually that's it; Gunworld only charges $35.00. Even when I've regrettably done PPTs there due to the seller wanting to use them (gritting my teeth the whole time hoping it went smoothly) and never paid more than that, and the lack of a lock was not an issue when I did - so they only charged $35.00.

Something is off then and it's likely they charged $20 for the lock; they simply don't charge more than the $35.00 for the PPT itself.

However, they are notorious for charging $20 for a lock, mandating it even if one is provided in the transaction, all the while that lock is a retail value of $4.95 most everywhere else.

Boy these stories make me mad. I wish the ffls would realize how gouging for a ppt sours so many people on their store, ultimately costing them hundreds if not thousands... sorry to hear the story OP, it's sad when we lose a store to shop in but we have to refuse to be taken advantage of.

Gunworld doesn't care.
They overcharge for everything, display attitudes... and yet somehow enough suckers walk through the door to keep them in business.

Makes me wonder if the whole business isn't just a big tax write-off for the owner.

I thought gun world had lots of inventory, but prices seemed a bit higher than other LGS's.
