Transfer Problem ?

I am going to start off by saying I will not name the shop at this point because I believe they are good people and I do not want to bash them. Sorry!

I sold a featureless rifle setup to a co-worker 16 days ago at a shop close to where I work. It is not the FFL I normally use, but have I shopped at this store a few times and they are pretty helpful.

Fast forward to today and the co-worker tells me he went in on day 11 and the store would not release the rifle. The reason given was "the system is down".

I called and got the info that DOJ has been delaying the renewal of their dealer number. So I am assuming they are locked out of the DROS system. I wish they would have mentioned this coming issue before the transfer and it complicates things, but oh well.

My question is what happens on day after day 30/31 if they cannot release the rifle to anyone if they are still locked out of DROS?

I just want to stay ahead of this incase the worst happens.

We had the same issue, our CFD was revoked because the COE department didn't click a button.

Chances are shop had no clue, state waits till the very last minute to issue any new license in this profession.

Give the shop some slack, they are probably already bashing their heads in trying to get this resolved.

That is why I did not name the shop. I am not trying to bash.

But I would like to know what happens on the 31st day if we are still stuck in the situation.

But if the ffl still can't access dros to cancel can they release the rifle back to me? Or does it automatically cancel?

Or is it stuck in limbo until the situation is resolved?

Automatically cancelled and cannot be delivered. Once the shop has access they will have to manually cancel it.

Yes the FFL has to cancel it manually after the state voids the dros because..... I have not figured that part out yet. If we don't we get a nasty email.
