Browning BDA 380 Type I or type 2

I have tried to research but so found I have found zilch on how to tell the difference between a type 1 and 2 Browning BDA. I purchased a slide to fit on my BDA but it clearly is the wrong one, but I have no idea how to tell which one I need. The forward part of the slide where the barrel sits I currently have is much slimmer in build than the one I purchased

Any help would be much appreciated.

The Beretta forums under the 81 series FAQ has some information on it.

I have one from 1981 basically brand new. I've only fired 50 rounds through it once. I had no idea that there were different types.

Thanks ! I think my problem is I have a type 1 gun, mfg 1982 and I bought a type 2 slide. The rails are right, but the larger guide rod and I think therefore the large front end that holds it will not fit on my slide.
