Are there storage facilities for guns and ammo?

OK, I'm a renter, and after 14 yrs in my current location the landlord has decided to sell all of his income property. A really nice guy, who's fighting cancer, and I understand and agree with his decision.

I live in the San Jose area, and will most likely remain in this area. If I do, the high price of rents will force me to move to either: a higher crime area; an apartment built like a motel where everyone will get a great view of me coming and going with a long gun....... or both.

Are there places that allow you to store your safe, and/or guns and ammo????

We're talking about a decent sized collection.

All suggestions are welcome. And would prefer serious responses!

Not sure how secure they are.....but storage units? I've had storage units with $50-75k worth of stuff in them before, so personally, the right location and the right location IN the storage place would be pretty safe. I wouldn't get one that you have to walk down a hall or anything.....I'd go for the 1 car garage style where you can drive up to the roll up door.

      It's an option.

I had a similar issue long time ago and my solution was to rent a smallest indoor storage space from Public Storage, then put my safe (wrapped in blankets to keep some of the moisture out after sealing all holes with silicon). You can secure them 2 locks and they have 24 hrs monitoring (so it's kind of secure), plus most places have almost 24 hrs access.

The only downside to those on the bottom floor is flooding and it may be easier I would think to drive in and just smash and grab. The second floor I would think would be harder to gain entry. (all be it I've only rented a second floor unit once while moving out of a house). I could be way off on this though??

There must be indoor type storage for high end items like wine, cars, etc. Maybe look into someplace like that??

          Good luck . . .

I know a guy that lived in close quarters (lots of nosy neighbors) and he brought his firearms to the range in a golf bag. He had enough clubs in the bag to look reasonable and still had plenty of room for rifles and such. Just a thought.

There are places that provide vault level security but no idea if there's one in Cupertino. It's also likely that it would be prohibitively expensive. After that you could possibly check at various gun stores in your area. You might find one that's willing to store for you for a fee of some sort. Some gun ranges may offer storage as well.

FYI...Reeds offers storage. No idea if this is close enough for you.

I use a gun/artwork/bullion vault outside phoenix. It is insured at the same level as Lloyds of London with 24 hour armed guards. I only know of 2 vaults like this on this side of the Mississippi. None are I know of are in ca.

There was supposed to be one in the Corona/Riverside area. Last I heard about it was ten years ago. It may not be around anymore.

You can definitely store them at my place. I just got a new 64-gun Cannon safe and wouldn't mind taking care of them for you
My biggest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I have run out of room, so I use a storage space for some weapons.
First they are oiled up properly, then put into their cases.
I put them in a large RIGID style metal work box, then obviously double lock that box, and then put it in the back of my storage space.

Tell no one. Find a place that has 24 hour live in people, and cameras.

Most storage unit places are not secure. The say they have 24 hour monitoring, but either the cameras are broken or it was too far away to ID the thieves, they recycle the tape every month, etc, etc. Most just have yo put a padlock on the door. Easy to cut with bolt cutters or angle grinder.

Yes, my storage unit was robbed. 2 safes taken. Along with everything else.

Try this for discreet urban rifle transportation, works well, slap on some golf stickers and no one is the wiser.
ive walked into vegas hotel/casino with one, and no one looked twice. Can get a few rifles in one, and lots of handguns and ammo.
