By no means will you find a good deal on anything at a gun show. The online market is how you save money or get reasonable prices on what you want.

However, I still enjoy gun shows because I like to look at the old guns and war/military memorabilia. Sometimes I'll buy cleaning supplies or targets, but I mainly go just so I can see some cool old stuff.

      ^ this right here.

And just once in a while, you will find something good.

I'll go to the local one if I have nothing else going on that day. Park off property to avoid the parking fee. I eat before I go so i don't buy food there.

OP if you want to find Gun related items a good price, go online.
If you want to see any of the following in person go to a gun show:

Dudes in full tactical vests, 5.11 pants, and Shemagh walking around.
Beef Jerky Stands where the operator may or may not wash hands.
Cool Samuri swords "guaranteed" to be battle ready.
            Knock off backpacks and holsters.
            A Dude selling wallets
A Dude selling flashlights and knives.
A stand with Civil War, WWII, or Korean War reproduction stuff.
            A stand to buy flags.
            A guy selling custom bikes
A guy selling Magazines of questionable origin
AMMO at hire prices than Midway
Leather goods like vests, hats, belts, and stuff.
Tactical bolt-on accessories for you AR/AK.
            Glass wear
            Pins and memorabilia
A guy selling custom molded ear protection while you wait.
            A guy selling shammie cloths.

            Hmmmm . . . what did I miss??

Gun shows will become a thing of the past / become extinct if people stop attending / supporting them

the gun grabbers like seeing the gun shows die out, it makes it easier to control the anti gun movement

I still go to support the show, because some day we might not have any more and it will be a thing of the past, if we let it go.

                  it's like SOLDIER of FORTUNE

Ive met former Navy SEALs, former Special Forces Vietnam Advisors, RANGERS , USMC RECON, LRRP's, former South Vietnamese chopper pilots, door gunners, former Scout Snipers

sometimes it's like a gathering of the Elite units, well worth the price of admission just to meet these guys.

I really have met all of the above, and they were the real deal, if you want to go where the "operators" hang out, just attend some of the big shows, you will eventually run into a few, you will be surprised who you might meet.

If my buddy has a table i will go. I have a lot of 1911 parts, slides barrels frame kits to sell. I might spot my stolen firearms and hook some one up.

In so cal, Crossroads shows are OK.
                          From best to worst:

Costa Mesa....free parking if you park on the swap meet side. Swap meet is nice too.
Ventura....right next to the ocean...good bike trails
Ontario....pay for parking, and have to walk far to get inside.
Del Mar, I haven't been to. So I don't know where it stands.

It's a catch-22. People don't go because of higher prices. So vendors charge more to make their profit off of the ones who go. As less people attend, more vendors stop attending.

Ultimately, vendors need to charge less if they want people to attend it. Decrease in guns shows won't lead to people buying less firearms.

I've only gone to the one in Costa Mesa. Decent prices on reloading components but need to buy in bulk to make it worth it, then treat the entry fee as hazmat fee. Also I get lucky on C&R guns sometimes. AR uppers I've seem are standard prices, ammo I've bought there was about the same any where else. Other accessories are a hit or miss.

They are generally a waste of time up this way.
