BSIS Firearm Training Question

When teaching the BSIS Exposed Firearm Course, BSIS requires the students to manipulate real handguns when teaching how to disassemble, clean, and inspect handguns. For some reason I was told that having students handle realistic Airsoft guns in the classroom is not allowed; the students must use real handguns.

Since I want to be safe in the classroom I think that I could use real handguns that have been modified for training to not fire real ammo. I have already asked BSIS this question but could not get a straight answer. How do you other BSIS instructors handle this issue in your classes?

Does anyone know where to buy handguns that have been modified to use in training?

Strip the mag, inspect the chamber, remove the firing pin if you must, and rock on dude. At what point do you expect a weapon to be pointed at you, really? Serious question. Because if its a real concern, they are outside of their lane and need to be stripped of their credentials immediately

If I remember correctly this was added because of a bunch of ND's at the Commerce Casino. They claimed they where just cleaning their guns.

I have seen students do all kinds of crazy things with firearms. I feel it is better to be safe than sorry. I appreciate the response, though.

I like the inert ammo idea, but I will be having 25 students every two weeks handling these handguns. I am also worried about wear, tear, and possible damage to the guns.
