Legality of a silencer on a BB/pellet gun.

I've got a bad squirrel problem in my back yard.
The buggers tore up my canvas patio umbrella for bedding. And now that I have removed the umbrella they're going for the seat cushions
I have a nice pellet gun but its a little loud. I have seen nice silencer kits on line. Im thinking of buying or making one.
Cali is so f'ed up Im not sure if id get in trouble for it.
My neighbor closest to where id be shooting said no problem with me getting them since they're doing damage to his property also.
    Any info would be great.

Id rather get busted killing a squirrel than an illegal slincer.

dont think it would be a good idea to make a suppressor from a online "kit", only way i know of to have one in cali is the integral suppressors on like a gamo whispers and such

All the $600 + premium Air rifles come with a "baffled system" that dampens the sound, so I suppose it's legal. The baffles and tubes are strikingly similair, if not identical to firearm supressors.

It does appear that some bad/incorrect information is once again being disseminated here on Cal guns. I do not have time at the moment to provide an accurate detailed answer, but a permanently attached suppression on an air rifle is completely legal under both Federal and California State law.

They are called "moderators" when on air guns.
Many air guns, from cheap to expensive, have them.
They are legal as long as they are not removable for use on a real gun.

Had a gamo whisper. Super Colibri out of a bolt gun much quieter.
