I had an idea last night that I was milling around in my head. It is hard to explain writing it down but I will give it a try. I want to knock around the possible legalities of my idea also. From what I understand about the new law that a butt stock has to be fixed, right, imagine a magazine, a rigid fixed object, like a buffer tube. You put a magazine in a kydex mag. holster, imagine that holster the size of a large handgun holster. The buffer tube slips into the barrel end of the handgun holster sliding the holster down to the top end of the handgun holster where the kydex is crimped, or folded in. Preventing the tube from completely sliding through the top of the holster. Making it a removable butt stock, for cleaning. The screws on the holster would tighten the butt stock to buffer tube. It is common for users of the AR platform to keep the stock fixed after they find the right length of pull. Well I do anyway. The barrel end of this stock would have to be elongated will lines in the molding every 1/2" for cuts for the user to cut off to get a custom fit. Make sense? Would it work? How hard is it to mold kydex?
Side note, with the tightening screws in the normal place are on kydex holster, the screws would tighten the kydex stock to the buffer tube. Just behind the screws, where the trigger and trigger guard are, that would be more open to allow for a 20 round size AR mag. To be held in there. What are your guys thoughts on this? You can just tell me off if you don't understand.
How is the law stated? Non - adjustable or fixed? You can't adjust this stock, after the user would cut it down to the preferred length. I guess the best way to discribe it would be a removable fixed stock, kind of like a A2 stock.
