    What should I do?

Don't know where else to post this. But wondering what's right.
I found a gun from a private seller in the marketplace.

He only seems to post things for sale. Very few posts, but he had itrader ratings that seemed legit. So I went ahead.

We worked out a deal on the gun, he was going to ship it to my lgs and i would immediately pay upon seeing the gun. He was unsure, but agreed after we traded phone calls and texts with photos of my d/l, etc. That was Saturday.

So I'm waiting for a tracking number and he pm's me today (Tuesday) that he sold the gun to someone locally instead. He had sent a paypal request for the shipping and didn't hear back so he apparently got nervous. The request was there, but I didn't get the email (spam filter apparently). He didn't text me, call me, anything. Just sold it to someone else. Needless to say I'm a bit pissed.

I had paid my lgs upfront to receive it. (have to still see if I can get my money back).

What should I do in terms of feedback, etc? what's fair if I can't get my money back from my lgs? (more than likely I can, they are good guys)

Very unhappy, but want to be fair. What say ye Calguns community?

      Ha!
Should I just let it slide to be cool about it if I get my money back?

        Well yea, I suppose.
Or just use the money you paid your gun shop to put towards something off their shelf.

Sorry to hear, sounds unethical on the sellers part. Still don't think this constitutes negative feedback. You should get your money back ,sounds like the seller just waisted your time. Maybe this calls for nutural feedback. It's risky tho because he can leave you the same, ruining your 100% rating. I would just let it go.

            Meh-

I would leave neutral feedback. You were smart and didn't send money to the seller so technically never "paid" for it. I kind of want to say it was a dik move by the seller but I can see where they're coming from also. Sucks but happens sometimes when making deals from far away.

Your LGS should just give your money back to you since they never received anything.

The seller has every right to refuse selling the item to you. It's sucks for you of course, but the seller did nothing i would consider "wrong".

Cooler heads prevail. I will take a deep breath and continue my search>
But I will say to Raul that you would be right that he did nothing wrong IF we hadn't come to an agreement and gone through everything we did. We had a deal. And if he wanted to back out, he had my number, we had spoke and texted. He should have let me know first to see if we could address his concerns. I think he owed me that.

But, again, deeeepp breeeaaathh and back you your regularly scheduled calgunning.

I would much rather sell anything to a local buyer in person, than to someone out of the way that will only purchase upon seeing. Why go through all the associated hassle if there is a change the buyer will back out.

Sorry, but the seller is in the right on this one.

There is no way I am sending a gun to someone without payment first. It simply isn't happening and anyone who even asks me goes on to instant ignore status.

Now I understand after some back and forth that the seller was willing to do this, but apparently he got spooked - as he should. A pic of a D/L means nothing.

And I have never heard of a FFL who wants payment up front for a transfer, that is ridiculous. So that is on you and them.

It sounds like you dropped the ball when you missed his PP invoice. That blame falls to you and your spam filter, not the seller.

You could leave neutral feedback but so could he - because you did not respond timely to his request for shipping payment.

I'd just let it go with some valuable lessons learned.
