Thordson style AK featureless grip?

Wondering why thordson or any other company hasn't done this? I don't like grip wraps and this looks just as feasible as the AR thordson.

Here's a little mock up I did in photoshop.

I just held my Thordson up to my AK and with an AR adapter and maybe some dremeling it looks like it would fit.

Now my question is, if I cut the original stock down to be just a cheek rest and use the thordson stock, would it meet the legal definition of featureless?

Unlike an AR, the receiver extension is not needed for an AK. A simple block in place to keep dust out (and "support" the rear trunion) would suffice. You could then add a comb to the thorsden stock to get the proper cheek weld while shouldering the rifle to fire.

I agree with you OP. I'm no fan of grip wraps, and if there were something like a thordson on the market for AKs I'd definitely give that a try

I just did a better photoshop mock up, and it really looks like this might be a possible mod. The thordson stock may need some dremeling around the web portion and the receiver definitely pinches a little close, but the length and angle of the thordson fits perfect. I mocked up my ar one to my ak.

Anyone willing to be a guinea pig for the rest of us and try it out?

The issue i see with the saiga's vs your standard ak, is the saiga's trigger is where the ak's grip is.

Unless you have really long fingers I can't see that working.

As much as I dislike grip wraps, I'd just do it for the sake of giving myself the option to remove it when I cross state lines. No "reconversion" needed.

That stock mounted like that is too low. The web of your hand would be too low.

You would need to convert the trigger too with stock saiga parts
