My father in law recently passed away. We need to sell his firearm collection. Most of the guns are 50 years old or more. He doesn't appear to have any documents for these guns, no bill of sale or anything. I have done private party transactions myself through FFL's. Is there any additional steps that need to be taken?

If JVtater lives in Oregon something's really fishy. Although Oregon just recently adopted universal background check, a background check has been required for years under Oregon law for private sales at gun shows.

Idaho gun shows are not what what you expect. Every single show I've been to in the east and southern cities are 100 table affairs. (There are the same coin, beef jerky, book, scented oils and candle vendors you find in California as part of the 100 tables.) The overwhelming majority of what's for sale are used hunting rifles, and inexpensive handguns. Think Hi-Point, Jennings and Jimenez. Glocks and Rugers make up the higher end offerings at most tables.

There's typically only one vendor from Mountain Home who brings higher end merchandise.
