    S&W 5906

Hello fellow gun enthusiasts, I got a question. I now live in TN. Before I left CA in 1989, I left a S&W 5906 with 3 mags to my friend here. Now that things are quite restrictive here, I was thinking of rescuing that gun.
Question- I know that it is not in the list of guns allowed here, but if it has already been owned prior to all these laws, is it legal to keep here? I already asked two gun stores, and they gave me two different answers. The magazines of course will go to TN with me. I'm currently here in TN so I can make the transaction in person if needed.
Thanks for all your answers in advance.

You have to physically show up to Transfer. It's a real PITA.

Now can you prove the gun was in CA before the Laws?

When you say you're in TN, and then you say "here", it sounds like you mean TN not CA.

If I'm getting this right, the Schmidt is still in CA with your friend?

Or, before leaving CA, did you give it to a friend in TN?

Some generic answers: If the gun's in CA, yes it is legal to own. The roster only applies to dealer sales. In a few months any mags over ten rounds will be illegal to possess, so whoever has it in CA will be restricted to ten-rounders. If you're in TN and you want a friend in CA to transfer it back to you, yes that's legal as long as he ships it to an FFL on your end.
I meant, it is my opinion that...
