    stungun worth it?

This is not meant to be an advertisement (no affiliation), but i just heard about a stungun called the Street Wise Small Fry at 900,000 volts (http://www.nonlethaldefense.com/smfry90vomis.html) and am wondering if anyone has any experience that would lead them to believe that this is either a worthwhile purchase, or a $50 turd. Its small, cheap, and rated at the highest volts i have ever seen. any imput would be appreciated... Thanks.

I think its a good idea for those wanting some form of protection but don't like guns or a knife. Me? I'd take a .17 rifle or pistol or even the knife I care every day over a stun gun. At 900,000 volts its not going to give much juice time. Once you are done shocking your killer/raper/liberal he can still come at you. All they do is stun the guy not put him out. Someone once told me.... "If you have to use force to save your life make sure only one side of the story is told." I think the point this person was making is to be sure the guy stays down and can can't come back at you. I have done a lot of reading on the human body and even removing the heart (if you could) of an attacker will still give him 8 seconds before he dies. 8 seconds is a long time for him to kill you and not enough for the police to save you.
"Calling an illegal alien a "undocumented worker" is like calling the drug dealer hanging around outside your kid's school an "unlicensed pharmacist."

The main use I see for stun guns is for defense while walking or driving, when most of us are unable to be armed in urban/suburban California.

The big problems with them are that they're close quarters defense (the bad guy has to be right on you before you can use them) and they're ineffective if you don't hit bare skin.

That said, they're better than nothing. I'd be inclined to couple one with pepper spray, which is more effective at a distance, but can also affect the user. Pepper spray's not a good idea for carrying in a car, since temperatures can get high enough to cause the container to burst, which would *really* suck.

Knives are another option, but take more skill and training than pepper spray or stunguns, and only folders are legal to carry concealed. Fixed blade knives carried concealed are a felony - you'd be better off with a handgun registered to you, which is only a misdemeanor.
