    TIG Welder

Anyone have a recommendation for a TIG welder in the Sacramento area? I'm needing to reattach the rear trunnion tang on my WASR (decided the skeleton stock wasn't for me).

I don't live in Sac but when I used to race up there most of the race car shops had TIG welders for chassis work or building intake manifolds and similar. Racing and guns usually go hand in hand. Anyone familiar with welding 4130 thin wall should be able to do good on gun parts. My TIG is up at my Oregon place now.

I can't name anybody in Sacramento. If you ever go to Sonoma, I know a few great guys at Sears Point

            Check craigslist under welding services.

Back when I was racing, Alston often brought their portable TIG to the track to help drum up business for the chassis shop by fixing stuff for free. Seeing their work prompted me to get a similar rig back in the 90's but once ag work died I sold it. Nice Kubota diesel powered 250A TIG/MIG.

I think Chris (Jr.) still has the shop in Sac but you'll have to look. If they can't help you I bet they can recommend another shop who can.

I am in Hayward fairly often and have my TIG set in the garage. If all else fails I can maybe help you out.

PM me....I work for a piping company that employs only Union welders. These guys install piping in oil refineries and have to conform to the highest standards.
