Possibly getting a refund from gunsmithing?

Hello, I'm not sure where this question should be posted, but I thought this location would be the best.

For brevity sake I'll try to make this as short as possible.

I had action and feeding issues on one of my firearms. I brought it to my local gunsmith. I paid for their services, but it still didn't quite work. Went back to the gunsmith and they said they'll take another crack at it free of charge. They eventually sent it to the factory for repairs. I've been in contact with the factory and they said no work could/will be done on the firearm.

Signs now point to my lever action not being "fully repaired."

There's a part of me that says: repaired or not, pick up the gun when it gets back and be done with it (gun's been gone since Oct. 2016). I'd like to think that they actually worked on it and I don't want to take money away from a LGS.

There's another part of me that says I paid for services that were not fulfilled and I should get my money back.

What should I do? Full refund? 50% refund? Get my gun back and never speak of it again? Comments/advice will be appreciated.

Could you clarify? Are you saying the factory said nobody's worked on the gun? Or are you saying the factory won't work on it cause someone else has....

It's a rossi gun, but apparently taurus bought them out, so it's technically a taurus factory and they don't do repairs for rossi guns. I asked the CS agent, "So where do I send it for repairs?" Their answer, "Your local gunsmith"

How old is your lever gun, because according to the Rossi website they cover for one year under their warranty....

As for your gunsmith question, I think I would talk it over with them but definitely would not expect to pay more than 50% of their originally quoted price to FIX the rifle,
        if they can't do that.

But I wouldn't mind paying them something for their efforts, if I thought they were actually trying to fix it.
Talk to them and try to to find a happy medium.

I would like to know what the original problem was with your Rossi. And what model/caliber.

Never mind on the original problem. I just reread your post.

                It's a Rossi

When I had my store we sold Rossi but when they started to come back for repair and saw how bad they were made we stopped selling them After the factory failed to make them work I worked on them. I got some to work but I ended up having to buy back 8 of them.

I junked them out and never sold another Rossi and never took one in for repair.

Good luck maybe you can find someone here that has the patience to work on them.

So, if I understand you correctly, your gunsmith spent time trying to fix your rifle twice, one of them for free. Then when their time and effort didn't resolve the problem it was sent in for repair and the manufacture couldn't fix it either..

If I understood correctly why should the gunsmith work for free?

Chalk it up to a learning moment and don't buy Rossi, Taurus, etc.

I have gone through my R92 using Steeves Guns DVD. And it was a massive improvement.... But my gun did work out of the gate.
