It's a union thing. It's probably written in the union contract that they are placed on paid administrative leave pending any investigation.

Actually it's a legal thing...Due process and all...

All criminal dirt bags get their due process rights respected. Even dirt bag criminal cops..

Remember an arrest does not mean a conviction... Unfortunately she will not be fired for awhile. In some agencies it's when the DA officially files charges... Others it's upon conviction.

So it could be a few weeks or a few months...
        Poke'm with a stick!

How do you steal $67,000 from a home

          100% of clothes
          Furniture

When you add up contents- what size truck do you need to haul away $67,000 of contents
Are YOU serious? A lot of peoples' jewelry can add up to that much. $67K is not that much in this day and age. A couple of gun safes can hold that much value depending on what you collect.

She will probably go on paid disability and retire with twenty years before she is convicted.

All that investigation must result in "stress", you know. All that stress will result in "disability".

So crime -> investigation -> stress -> disability -> retirement with full benefits.
See, crime does pay in CA.

Perhaps it's the company she kept? Hanging out with the element at work then finding common ground. Just the whole "dating a bad boy" thing because "bad boys are cool and exciting". Twenty years on the job, plenty of time to have grown up. You would have thought she left that kind of thinking back in her twenties or thirties.

She'll get offered a plea deal and take it because it is a first offense. Don't expect a lot of time, but the boyfriend will be sent back.
