My reason for not running steel case on some guns is the residue and potential for build up and damage.

Steel cases do not expand at the same rate as brass cases do. Residue from burning powder is more likely to foul the chamber. This was more prevalent on older steel cases that were lacquered and also used the red sealer around the bullet and primer (older Wolf ammo).

Brass cases, being softer and more maleable, are less likely to cause accelerated wear on extractors.

I run steel cased ammo exclusively on SKS' and AK's, and used to run it and brass in a HiPoint 4595TS until I sold it. I used to run Tula .223 in my Mini 14 until this happened....

I ran lots of Tula through my Mini for years before this failure happened, and I thought I did a good enough job cleaning the chamber (kind of a pain on a Mini). But even with poly coated steel cases the residue built up.

I know many people who run Tula with no probs. More power to 'em, but I've already been bitten once. I'll stick with brass.

I would only use steel case for AK / SKS or other com bloc weapons like the TT-33 Tokarev pistol / MAKAROV

I know federal is always solid but it seems to be on the pricey side even in bulk. I see that Sellier & Bellot and fiocci are better priced and Ive never had a problem with it in 9mm. Anything I should stay away from? Thanks a lot!

I agree Freedom works well in all my .45's including their reman. Freedom also has Remington PMC pretty well priced. Free shipping on your first order too.

LAX Ammo is a good choice for you SoCal guys. Online pricing is a little better than store, but with shipping works out to be about the same.

I've had good luck with Freedom Munitions in .45, 9mm and .223.

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I'll have to pony up for a few 50 round boxes first. I'm gonna start with a few of the cheaper brands first.

Laxammo.com factory new 500rds for $139+tax. It's accurate, burns clean and I've never had a jam in my 45XD. Found them at a local gun show in N. Cali and have shot 300 rds and I will be buying from them again. New customers shipping free.

I had 6 FTF in one box of 50 on one outing. All primers had solid hits, but no bang.

Winchester white box runs dirty in my experience.
Those look like light strikes (or hard primer). Have you tried to fire them again?

Cheapest seems to be CCI Blazer 230 gr JRN aluminum case. Have shot hundreds of them from a couple of SIG 1911's with no problem.

If you plan on saving cases to reload, then their brass case version is only a bit more expensive.

I've found American Eagle and PMC to work well.
                          Good prices in bulk.

I know that after the first two FTF I used them in another gun, either a P220 or a HiPoint carbine, don't remember. Still had additional 4 FTF's.

Pretty sure I kept the box, probably stashed in my garage somewhere.

Bulk ammo for me is Miwall, LAX or anything inexpensive at Wallyworld.
                              But for 45acp I reload....Usually 200 gr semi wadcutter.
