Has anyone shot some of this blemished Guatemalan ammo from Aim Surplus? any problems? Should i pick some up, or go with something "cleaner"?

might as well get some RG SS109 for the price of the guatemalans...it's not much more. unless you're really keen on 55grn.

If you want 55gr bullets, it's good stuff, just dirty/etc. Throw it in a tumbler or vibrating cleaner with some cob or walnut shells until it cleans up. No misfires or other shootability issues here, Guatemalan 5.56 is nice stuff & the price is right.

I got some really tarnished / blackened Guat .223 mixed in with the shiny grade-1 rounds.
The tarnished ones shoot fine and not noticably less accurate (w/ iron sights), but I wasn't shooting groups on paper or anything. I did have extraction issues with some of the really blackened cases, but the shiny ones were fine.
I have not tried tumbling live rounds to clean them up before firing.

Is this guatemalin ammo loaded to .223 or 5.56 specs?
            Please, calm down.

              The box says '5.56'.

              It's military surplus.

Just wanted to hear what the ammo looks like overall.Rumor has it AIM only split open 1 of the 4 battlepacks in a case to see what it looked like, and from the reports from the previous batch of Gaut

will take you to an exhaustive/exhausting 9 pg. thread about the Guat' #2. Based on the thread, I'm getting MORE NOW.

No affiliation w/ AIM other than a satisfied customer.

Just ordered a case of the dirty guat 5.56. Hope to try it out this saturday. Will report back my findings.

                      I received two cases: 1991 and 1999.

So far the 1991 is tarnished, and the 1999 looks good. Newer the better but it's luck of the draw with this stuff.

I just shot 100 rds of some IMG ammo that was very corroded on some casings.... worked fine... blemishes were the least of my issues... but it was free ammo, so I'm not complaining....
