First time winning a bid, I live in south San Jose, what is the average cost that a dealer will charge me to have the gun sent to him and the paper work done? What shop is a good one around me?

Too late for this, but make sure that it is legal to own in Cali
Pay for it
Have your FFL send his paperwork to seller
Pay for DROS and transfer
Take home after 10 daysLIVE FREE OR DIE!

I'd go with Mount Pleasant Arms, Farwest Photography, or Rogers Relics to receive it. All will treat you well and their prices to receive a firearm from out of state are better than the typical brick and mortar gun shops.
Figure around $65-$70 plus tax if the firearm is coming from a business. No tax if coming from a private party.Comment

You really should have figured this out before bidding but do this right now:
Get back on gunbroker and go to their section on qualified FFLs. It's been a while since I bought something but I think you just type in your zip code and FFLs local to you will pop up.
As far as pricing-make the phone calls.Comment

Mount Pleasant Arms (Peter I think?) is a good dude.
Personally though I'd suggest moving to TX. Just found out it's only $15 at my FFL to receive and transfer a gun.Comment

Theres also UGImports in Fremont
Anthony will take care of you
Must be on the roster......"While it may come as a surprise to the authors of the legislation, most semi-automatic pistols do in fact come with a pistol grip"Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply is arithmetical at best.Comment

It would help if you posted make and model to see if off roster.Comment

I just paid, I think about $90 to transfer in a pistol. Then you have sales tax on top of that.Comment

Yup gotta love the sales tax.....it's funny when people have no clue and their like wtf sales tax??? What now it's costing me more? Are you kidding me??? Haha it cracks me up every time....what you thought was a deal ended up not so much. It's a mistake you only make once ( I hope lol ) Like others said it's best to figure this all out before actually bidding. There are plenty of ffls that will do the transfer if it's cali legalNRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

People call it a sales tax but it's actually a use tax, which is calculate at the same rate as the sales tax.
CA has a "use tax" on any product bought out-of-state and used in CA.
You are suppose to pay this when you do your CA state income tax.
But, several years ago, CA started forcing CA FFL dealers to collect it. (because no one was doing it when they were filing their CA state income tax)sigpic
