Bastiani Arms - Mag Lock? (Mod 1)

Anyone played with one of these?

He added the part should only cost around $10 and would fit on any AR.
    Looking for a 3" Magnum 870 $200-$250ish

Nice out of the box thinking..
"When the system breaks down, you get to vote from the rooftops. Its one of the last best traditions of western enlightenment"

"This was an IQ test/science experiment of Josef Mengele proportions, and the public willingly lapped it up. And many failed". (me, on Wuhan flu, 2022)

          Question EVERYTHING.

Looks so simple. How does it lock the magazine into the lower until the upper is opened?

So I drew up their design and it is a great design to make our AR's Ca compliant. However, from what I can see using this mod might not allow it to function as a bolt catch? If that is in fact the case I'm not sure I like the idea of not being able to hold open the bolt. I hope I'm wrong as it is a great inexpensive idea.

It blocks the mag catch from being pushed out of the receiver.

What to do with no bolt catch?

This looks cool and the price is nice, but I took a good look at it and it definitely removes the original utility of the bolt catch.

So with the installation of this device: You will no longer have a rifle where the bolt is locked open after firing the last round. No longer able to hold the bolt back to keep the chamber open for safety and range requirements. And the bolt catch is also supposed to push down on the spring of your magazine to make it spring down and out of the magwell. I suppose you'll get some sticky mags.

I think there is a better solution out there that I put on my ARs. Check out the FC Hook. http://torqueprecision.com

The FC hook installs and uninstalls just like a normal Magazine Catch. It doesn't effect your bolt catch or any other functionality of your rifle.

Last round bolt hold open is pretty useless on a gun who's action needs to be opened to change mags or reload. You can install a chamber flag at the range.

Also, while the FC Hook is workable solution it creates more of a fixed magazine - so when the gun runs dry you need to send the bolt home, you need to open the action and then you need to use a specific tool to release the magazine. No thanks!

Jason Davis has no idea what he is talking about of he thinks any device is illegal that tool and time can defeat.

Name any device in the history of manufacturing that cant be defeated by tools and time.. none exist.

So when Jason Davis makes a Video explaining why no device in CA is compliant, and has facts to back that up, I will agree with him.

I agree with you in his video they used a punch and and a hammer who walks around with those tools and as far as to the armaglock a screwdrive would defeat it just pry it out of the way
