Trigger discipline and fin grip question

A while back I went featureless with my rifle and installed a fin grip (w/thumb rest) like so many of you did.

In the past I became accustomed to carrying or transitioning positions, etc. using the grip one handed. Usually the weak hand is carrying other things or supporting myself if prone. Even with arthiritis, the one hand carry and maintaining control of the rifle is not a problem. I also never had a problem of keeping my trigger finger along side of the reciever, away from the trigger.

I find now with the fin, my trigger finger wants to go into the trigger area to get a more secure grip. Obviously I'm going to need to re-train my ole brain into doing things differently. Not that easy these days, especially when changing somehing that is "second nature".

All of you managed to adapt, I guess I can too. (I find the ambi-safety rides on my thumb as well).

    THE QUESTION:

Do you find that you are more likely to place your trigger finger inside the trigger guard when changing positions, etc. with any type of fin grip?

    Respectfully
    Kyle

I could see run and gun being a problem with a fin grip. You might want to check out a Thordsen stock, the new ones coming look pretty nice.

New Thorsden stock? I see nothing on their site relating to a new FRS-15 stock coming out.

Thanks for the Thordsen video Kowan. If it's meets the required criteria and reasonably price, better than trying to re-train my noggin.

That's not the Thordsen. Here's the version I have.

The other video is the Resurgent Arms Featureless Rifle Grip in prototype now.

I use the Hammerhead here. With the magpul fixed carbine stock fitted about 1 1/4" back, that creates a space to wrap your thumb around the grip, like with a pistol grip. That allows standard finger positioning and feels more like a wood stock rifle.

Although it was not intended to let you wrap your thumb around, it does place the webbing above the trigger line = legal.

I spent yesterday at Gunfighter Tactical trying out a bunch of fin style grips, none of them work for me. It's all about securing the grip with the thumb.

I think we have thumbs for a reason, contrary to what out legislators think.

They are anal about safety in so many areas, yet intentionally create compromised safe conditions in the firearms arena.

                          I know---preaching to the choir.

Jimi, with the Hammerhead, can you carry or maneuver the rifle one handed?

                            Thank you

Yes you can but it's a bit heavy. My lightweight 14.5" is the easiest. The pistol still has a grip = deciding...

Anyone thinking about this stuff should spend a bit of time at their local shop trying these various options out.

                              Measure twice, cut once.
