    DROS screwup

Anybody ever dros the wrong gun? Was excited to pick up my new SIG 239 this morning. Until I opened the case and saw a Sig 2022. After test to renew safety card the owner passed me on to another salesman to fill out dros. New guy grabs wrong case and fills out sale. Tells me to verify my info. Done. Wrong . Should have verified everything on paperwork. Only dif was model # and serial. Now I am waiting for guy to get hold of DOJ and straighten out mess. Might have to rewait 10 days . Might have to wait thirty to start my 10 days.

Every time I have bought, the FFL made me verify the SN right in front of them.

    Good luck.

was there any difference in price that you might have noticed, or, were both firearms the same cost

let us know how this gets straightened out - sounds like a headache

They might be able to do a DROS correction.

Dealer can only change one aspect of an incorrectly submitted firearm for any particular DROS. If both the serial number and model need to be changed, the DROS cannot be fully corrected, and thus needs to be cancelled and re-DROS'd. The good news is that, if cancelled, DOJ does not apply it to the 1 in 30 restriction. But yes, you'll have to wait another 10 days.

Can't say this has happened to me before, but I think it was just as much on you as on the FFL to verify everything before submitting the DROS. Might as well enjoy the 2022 for the next 30 days. I've had worse things happen than getting another gun when I forgot to double check important forms.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

Cancel & Re-DROS. Dealer should eat the cost of the DROS. If the charge for the gun was different then you owe more money as the P239 is a few hundred more than the SP2022.

Just happened to my buddy drosed older ar7 and went home with new ar7 wrong serial number. FFL just traded for the right firearm. Neither checked.

I know the gun and case handed to me for inspection was a SIG 239 I have no idea how they mixed up paperwork after that. As for checking paperwork, for 25 years I have diligently double checked my personal info that I provide. It never even occurred to me that I should double check their info as well because they have a different employee double check their own work. Lesson learned I guess.

I never took possession of gun. I showed up after thirteen days and as soon as she opened the factory case I said this is not my gun.

Then it was clearly an error on the FFL's part that probably could have been caught with him having a better procedure in place - on the last couple of purchases at higher volume stores (Turner's, RifleGear) they've asked me to confirm the make, model and serial number of the DROS. Turners even went so far as to ask me to read back the serial number to them.

I suppose that's neither here nor there, as it sounds like there might be an adequate solution available (though the 10 day wait and the third trip to the store is certainly an inconvenience). Good luck!

Surely it's a sign from above that you're supposed to keep the 2022 and buy the 239 next. The lgs should gladly adjust the price to make everything right.

Most of the ffl's I've used specifically ask you to verify the serial number. Your LGS should do the same to avoid these matters.

I've had some other gun in my case before and also the wrong model written into the paperwork.

Now I always check the gun's serial number matches the case and matches the dealer's paperwork as well as everything else I sign.
I also take a picture of the serial number from the gun at the start of the process and check against that picture before I take possession to make sure they gave me my gun.
They sometimes look at me funny when I check their work but better that than wasting an extra trip to the store.
clerk may very well have checked both the case and the firearm, but, since were both incorrect, the wrong gun entirely, it would not have mattered - to me, its like buying a used car from someone - i don't just kick the tires, i also make sure all the paperwork matches up too
