Send this in with $19. Must be sent within 60 days of importing the firearm as a new resident. Report all firearms, no need to report ammo

You can't bring any assault weapons (see flowcharts below) which include bullet button featured rifles anymore, and no mags over 10 rounds.

Note however that ARs, AKs, etc., must now be converted to a featureless configuration or sold before you get here, and magazines can't be over 10 rounds capacity.

But that's just as of this moment; other things to be aware of are that the Democratic party has a supermajority in both houses, controls every state executive office, and recent legislation in a practical sense effectively prohibits anyone but a Democrat to run for office, so it's likely that we'll soon look back on this as 'the good old days'.

The only things you need are:
        1. Obtain a valid CA DL.
        2. Submit a New Resident Firearm Ownership Report (BOF 4010A) with a $19 check/money order within 60 days of bringing the firearms into CA.

Can I break my AR15 into upper and lower for transportation, then convert the whole thing into featureless once in-state?

            Nope.

By far the safest is to do the conversion before you cross the state line.

The risk is a charge of importing an 'assault weapon'

I smell a troll. Why is it that all the threads you start ask questions about what you should do about all your firearm related stuff since you're moving to CA?

Because I am, and I have no interest getting charged by a zealous local DA. Having a firearm-related issue on my record does not look good on a resume, doesn't it?
