Considering Selling off my Sig 556

    Hey folks,

Apologies if this is the wrong section, it's been a very long time since I've been to the forum. I have had a Sig 556 Patrol Swat (with Bullet Button) for a long time. It's the original style button, I think, but hear some changes are around the corner. I'm considering offloading this gun since I have a kid, full time job, and a million other things keeping me from the range.

Can I get an opinion or two on whether I should try to sell it in-state? I'm considering flying it to FL (family lives there) just to get it out there and selling it there...not sure if that's even doable since the rifle is registered here. I know I could probably search for these answers but it's been so long I don't know where to begin.

    Thanks.

You would need to make it featureless in order to PPT it here, so unless you want to go that route, selling here is out. Taking it to Florida will make it easier to sell, especially on armslist or something.

As for it being registered here, I'm pretty sure there is a form to send to the DOJ to let them know that the rifle is no longer in your possession

If you want to sell it out of state without physically taking it there, some dealers have a license to handle such sales but they will charge around $250.00 (in addition to their 25%).

          Addax Tactical in San Fernando.

            OP,

That is a nice piece. It would be a shame to get rid of it. If I were you i'd take it on a boat and spend one last day with it before selling it...

Keep it!!! Even if it stays in your safe and you never use it. I hate to see people get rid of their guns due to kids or work or anything else that's not against the law. Heck I have 2 1/2 kids and they love helping me clean my guns. Well the 2 do the 1/2 isn't out and able yet. Do be that guy that looks back 5 years from now and says "shat I should've keep that gun"

Its got a bullet button, and its 2017 already, which means its already an AW, and you already have it, ....so.......

But, generally speaking otherwise, things to consider IMHO:
                Need the money?
Worried about who will get it when you kick the bucket?
                Have kids in the house?
                Wife hates it?
                Out of safe room?
                ...and....
Had it pre-2014? (long gun registration) ?
Have another long gun to do what it does?
Able to go featureless and avoid the registration?
Live in a bad part of town?
                Korean ?
                Nice reliable rifle?

The changes "around the corner" happened on Jan 1st 2017. You could have easily sold it last month here for more than you bought it for, with all the panic buying going on.

Now as already mentioned you would have to go featureless, unless there is a new BB replacement available for the Sig I'm unaware of.

Why would he need an FFL to send it out of state... He can go to FedEx and ship it himself, as long as it goes to an FFL and he includes a copy of his drives license. He is selling it to Free America, not California

Does it have the old collapsible stock or the folding stock that's pinned? Split the upper and lower, remove pistol grip and sell the serialized portion of it which I believe us the lower
