If you take the wheels off a car is it no longer a car?
Just spitballing as no one will be able to give you a solid answer, as their isn't one.
Also - What led you to believe that it will no longer function as a flash hider with 4 prongs removed?Artist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and Pistol -
If the MPX muzzle device is 1/2-28, then any break that you can find and still have barrel > 16-inch should work. There are a few 9-mm muzzle devices but they look shorter than your photo.
I don't think Sig has offered any OEM barrels for the MPX or MCX yet?"Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Judge Benitez 12-12-2022

Remington Nylon, 1911, HK, Ruger, Hudson H9 Armorer, just for fun!

Because it would just be 2 prongs extending off a barrel connecting to a circle.
Would that still serve as a flash hider?sigpicComment

The CG AW chart on the second page has some advice on what constitutes a flash hider and muzzle break. The key to that is a closed front end with only a hole for the bullet to exit."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." FWIW anyone know if Sig or anyone else is making MCX MPX barrels?"Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Judge Benitez 12-12-2022

Why not just a sleeve around the flash hider?

That brings us to something I have been thinking about. Can you argue that the rifle does not have a flash hider just because it is covered? The law says nothing about it actually being functionalArtist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and PistolComment

Would it not be the same situation as a grip wrap covering a pistol grip?
