Clot Pack - What is it?

After reading about the incident at raahauge's I think I want to add a little more punch to my first aid kit.

I see some folks talk about wound packing and a clot pack. What are they and which ones work best? I shoot at West End. The berms are well laid out but I do get some splatter from time to time when someone is shooting AR's at AR500 in the next berm or main range (not in the rules for sure) at less than 100 yards or I am shooting pistol at AR500 plates in my own berm. I have taken many pieces to the face and other areas.

I want to be prepared in case the worst thing might happen.

Seems like a good thing to throw in the range bag just in case

Add that and an Israeli bandage, anything to stop/slow down flow till you can get proper treatment.

In addition, be careful, get a little training or practice and practical knowledge. Sometimes packing a wound with a round still lodged can cause even greater damage. Your main goal is to limit your loss. Don't go shoving a whole wrap in a shrapnel wound next to sensitive area in a panic.

Clot Pack - What is it?

Here is a link to videos on how to use different med equipment you would use or need for a GSW. I will say this is a link to my company l sell and make Gear plus have individual med supplies. But watch the videos and determine what you are comfortable doing. Then build your kit from there.

Is that a good kit to get?

Been needing & wanting to add supplies like that to my inventory...

                  Thanks.

The idea is to have a good kit that you know how to use.

In today's day and age there is no reason not to go to at least a basic first aid class. Then you can determine how far you want to go in learning. Most beginning classes get you a good amount of knowledge.

Then either get an IFAK or larger kit or just put some useful pieces together. As far as the kits go, take it apart when you get it see what is there so you are familiar with the contents. Then put it back together how you see fit. Every now and then go back familiarize yourself again and check the dates on perishables. Not even a bad idea to mark dates so you can just do a quick check.

                    Ok, I'm done lol
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does a bear still s**t there?

I have one of these in my day pack when hunting in grizzly country. Seems like a good thing to have in general though.

If a Grizzly decides your time is over....your time is over!

That is not true actually. More have survived grizzly attacks than you would think. There was one here last hunting season in SW MT.

But I get your comment! If you are missing a limb a clot pack aint gonna do much.

Trick with Grizzly is dropping a bullet at the bottom of a poo stained toilet. They turn to stone, panic sets in and you make your move....
