Target shooting with a AK and AR in 2017

Ive heard alot of mixed stories about the legality of shooting a rifle with features now in 2017
.....is it legal to go out to a shooting range or BLM are with a rifle with features or does it now have to be featureless?....wasnt the law sopossed to kick in 2018?

Yes it is legal.

Yeah, it's legal. Technically, it needs to be registered as an assault weapon now though. But the registration system isn't set up online yet. And there's a grace period to register until the end of 2017.
So I would take all that into consideration when you take your AR/AK with features to the range or the BLM.
