    Honestly to me if it says carbine I will check carbine period. For the AR receiver I'm not sure since the newest set of AW laws is mainly for the features of the rifle being the pistol grip adjustable stock and flash surpressors of which the receiver has nothing to do so I'm not positive on that.

      If that's the case I would probably say it's just going to be a carbine without the receiver portion and say you were planning to make it a .22 or rim fire rifle that doesn't fall under the new AW laws

        Go for carbine. It's not an action type but more a definition of size. What they don't know will certainly be in your favor.

            My Bro-in-law hasn't registered any of his guns he brought in from MA.

            Seems that's the only CA gun law that comes with a mulligan.
