    Favorite Cartridge?

While the storm of the century brews and all I have to do is look at guns on the internet in preparation, I thought, what is your favorite gun projectile (rifle, pistol, rimfire, cap and ball, rocks, wax, blanks)?

I really enjoy a 22 Magnum. Velocity and energy is stout from a rifle and decent velocity out of 5-6 inch barrels and even short barrels.

My only trouble is I love shooting it but reloading or finding it for cheap is tough.

    What say you?

Gimme the fo-tay any day! I can shoot it well, and really like the recoil impulse. Ammo is affordable, especially by reloading... and since it gets a bad rap there are lots of used guns at good prices!

I can dig it. I bought a 40 during the crunch because everything else was unavailable and I really grew to enjoy it.

.22 LR most fun you can get dirt cheap rifles are cheap you can get I 100 rds of hollow point that expand from my experience anyway to about the width of a 9 it's easy cheap anyone you hand the gun to can fire it without being scared of the kick... which makes it amazing for rapid succession follow up shots

Hmmmmm, good question, I have a ton of things I really like to shoot but I suppose it comes down to two:

          1. 45-70, and
          2. 12 gauge rifled slug. I love watching the huge 70 some caliber hole it tears in a target.

Of those two, I would defer to the 12 gauge slug.

.45 has always been my fav, but I picked up a fo-tay last year and I am really liking it. I like it so much I bought another. Now my .45's are crying like little B's in the safe.

                  .
My current favorite cartridge is the .41 Remington Magnum. I've had a Ruger Blackhawk for a little while; a 1967 Old Model, 4-5/8" barrel. I've just acquired a Marlin 1894FG, identically chambered. This is the cartridge I began reloading for.

.44 Special and .45ACP are next in line...

                            .38 special, probably.

It's cheaper than .45 colt while still being decent enough for a pistol. Doesn't feel like airsoft when I shoot it.

12 gauge is probably another favorite to shoot. Not too expensive for birdshot and feels nice and hefty to shoot.

Well for pistols, 9mm. For my favorite rifles, definitely .38 Special.
