Rifle mag questions.

I haven't done to much browsing or shopping on rifle mags, but I need to buy some for my new baby! I recently purchased a new rifle and just beat the deadline. The rifle shoots a 7.62x39.

When it comes down to buying rifle mags, should I be shopping for them like when I do for my semi-auto handguns? USP needs USP mags, PPQ needs PPQ mags, SP-01 needs SP-01 mags, etc..... or does it only come down to which caliber the mag for the rifle holds?
