Featureless is a Ferrari in a Pinto body

In other words, to me, featureless is no longer an AR. I'd rather have a maglock-type release than convert an AR to featureless. I mean, to me, it is not really an AR anymore without those features and doesn't appeal to me. I would not want a featureless AR off the shelf. Not being able to quickly reload mags for home defense would be my main issue using a maglock or similar device, barring safety issues (for home defense, I'd either use a handgun or keep one on me for backup). Anyway, I simply cannot see myself looking at a featureless AR in an ad & say to myself "Oh yeah. I really want one of those." I would not look forward to an awkward looking and feeling rifle. I have not seen any grip conversions that I would like.

Really?! Watching guys run the thordsen stocks or the new Ares rifle, they look much quicker than the majority of most users ARs.
If I'm still living in this state in a year or max, 2, I have much bigger problems than rifle options, so the choice to go featureless will be purely to stick it to the tards in Sacramento.

The Thorsdsen stocks don't appeal to me at all. I had not seen the Ares rifle. I'd much prefer that to the Thordsen. The Thordsen looks like the grip would be a little awkward to use. The Ares is more traditional and I would actually be fine with that. Thanks for bringing that option to my attention.

Only thing I looked forward to was some ar9 pistols being finally given a shot at a sweet home defense and course run rolls but now that the bullet button has to stay, forget that.

Featureless is not going to be for everybody. It gives the benefit to those who do not want to register as an alternative. Personally for me, I also do NOT prefer featureless either because it looses it's appeal for what the platform was originally design for. I also don't like to stray away from the traditional look of the AR and AK. It's like someway paying the premium price for a "less" rifle. Because of the new Draconian law here in California, I most likely will not be purchasing any more AK/AR variant anytime soon. It's sad really.

Can't break open a Tavor and the BB on it is absolutely horrible. To get to a standard mag release, featureless is the only option.

Featureless doesn't really bother me. I already run my stock fully collapsed without changing the LOP. I've been running a muzzle brake since I broke it out of jail. It's just the fin grip or hammerhead that I have to get used to. I love having an ambidextrous magazine release on my Sig M400. For what I intend to use the rifle for, featureless is the way to go. But to each their own.

Wrong forum - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=349 is for 'how to obey the law and not go to jail'.

                Complaints go elsewhere.

Regardless of what "state defined evil" features are or are not on the rifle, it still shoots the same projectile at the same velocity. It's still the same rifle in that regard. I'd equate what has been said in this thread to saying "If you take the Lamborghini scissor doors off a Lamborghini, it's no longer a Lamborghini".

Are the laws dumb? Hell yes they are. We all know that a telescoping stock, flash hider, forward grip, pistol grip, or bayonet lug don't make these rifles any more "assualty" than rifles without said features, so to define a rifle with these features as an "assualt weapon" is ridiculous. However, we also know it's not about that, the state just doesn't want us to have guns, period.

So while they will continue to whittle away at what we're "allowed" to have, we will keep doing what we do. Is featureless pretty? No. But I'm not exactly trying to win beauty contests at the range or in a self defense situation anyways, so I don't care what it looks like. However, I won't have to register as a RAW if I go featureless, and that will be a win in my book.

I add a muzzle brake, magpul fixed carbine stock, and monsterman grip with an ambidextrous safety. It feels the same as a normal AR to me (never really used forward grips), only thing different is the monserman grip but I've gotten used to it and, the fixed carbine stock is at the length of pull I like.

That's a cool story OP. It's like everybody has different tastes. Imagine that.

Still think some of the featureless rifles look like botched abortions but probably shoot fine. I would not be very excited...At the range, I could only imagine...WTF is that? Rather take mine to Reno and use a 30 round mag. Rather go with an M1A for featureless, yet I already have about six AR's.

As far as self defense, I would take my Remington 870 over my Pre-ban AK-47. Shotguns basically produce ground beef at close range or armor piercing projectiles with slugs.

End of the day, California Sucks...just hope a new Supreme Court smacks these bastards in Sacramento with the Constitution.

Featureless is a Ferrari in a Pinto body.
Maglocked is dragging a Pinto uphill with a rope in the rain.
Registering is being handcuffed in the back of a squad car and watching your Pinto being towed because you illegally let your friend barrow your car yesterday. Not to mention the extra charge for failing to lock your doors in the supermarket parking lot, also who gave you permission to stop at the supermarket anyway? They got you on that, too.

It's really a function or form question, isn't it? I got a XM177E2 clone that I wouldn't turn featureless even if I could. But my other 18" barrel AR is going featureless so that I can keep it flexible.
