    Gun Transfer

So my mom bought me an AR-15 in November and then I filled out the paperwork to have it transferred over to me. Does anyone know how long that process will take and will they even approve it now cause it's 2017 and all the new laws are in affect?

Technically I believe you were supposed to fill it out.

How old are you? Do you have your fsc? is she ca resident? Lots of info missing. It perhaps should have been gifted at ffl direct to you. Also you filled out transfer not her correct?

My son did an OPLAW a couple years ago and it took about 4 months for him to receive his docs. No idea about the in-progress transfer vs new laws. If I were to make a bet, I'd bet against you getting an approval.

Should have done the online version. Did that a month ago and got the final a couple weeks later.

If you are reserve mil, the X22 exemption is the one you should have included.

Without that or the actual FSC, the filing probably will be rejected. That's fixable.

OTOH, that form documents a past event. The transfer has already occurred. There is no requirement to wait for an acknowledgement.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Yeah I put the X22 code in for the exemption. So the rifle will be mine then?

Isn't there at least a need to know that the DOJ received the paperwork? Lots of mail gets lost and it's never the receiver's responsibility to prove they did not receive it.

Other than sending with some version of receipt signature required - registered mail, FedX etc - the acknowledgement paperwork is the only thing you have.
