Question about my FN 9

picked up a FNH FNS 9C yesterday, my first striker fired handgun, needless to say im pretty jazzed about it

however

my lack of experience with an FN firearm is already showing - here's what i need to know

haven't been able to take it out yet, but, i noticed that while racking the slide, the back end of the barrel, which is flush with the slide, drops about 1/8th of an inch while pulling back, then returns to it's normal position as the slide returns

simple question, lol, is that normal for this type of firearm - im thinking the function is connected to feeding the next round

That's the John Browning tilting barrel design.

Lug on the front of the barrel locks against the slide, under recoil the barrel tilts downward unlocking the slide so the action can cycle.
There's a little more to it of course, this is just a basic explanation.
