Wilson Combat barrel, is this rust?

Hi everyone I've been a longtime reader on here, just never really had anything to say.

I just received my Wilson Combat barrel Recon 16
It's my first build and I don't know if this is anything to worry about. It looks like rust to me. I just received it and was really anxious to finish my build.
Is it nothing to worry about or should I contact Wilson Combat?

Looks like it. If it's brand new, never fired I would call or email them the pictures and see what they offer to resolve it.

Hit them up and see what they say. Clean it off and see if it comes back.

What about the rust on the outside of the barrel that would be covered My the upper. This is a new never fired barrel

When you ship stuff in the winter often there can be condensation and as a result light surface corrosion on steel parts unless they're well oiled. It'll probably wipe right off.

I would send pics to them. In the meantime some Corrosion X and 00 steel wool will take care of that.

                      It's surface, clean it off.

The bore looks ok from what I can tell. All I have on hand is some froglube and a toothbrush. Here what it looks like after a go with that

Its probably just the factory copper grease.

Contacted Wilson Combat and they said it is unacceptable. And they will gladly replace it.
