Yes. Featureless- either grip wrap or remove pistol grip. Make sure your FFL is OK with that.

I was happy to find one Bay Area store that has already switched all of his rifles to featureless. Some stores don't have anything on the shelves and no plan to do so yet.

Featureless AK rifles, yes, dealers or stores. AK pistols = no, unless fixed mag, and thru private transfer only.

I bought a Yugo RPK 5 years ago from a private party outside CA. Asked him to remove pistol grip before shipping. Not rocket science.
Hopefully some retailers can figure out this amazing modification. Though, they'd still probably charge $30

Ya. Even big 5 was selling featureless I.O AKs with no pistol grip, 6 or longer years ago

Not telling you not to buy a featureless rifle. But with the overreach of these new regs, just know that if you do buy it, it seems very feasible and inevitable that all semi-auto long guns will be banned in this state by 2019. Some will dispute this but take a good look at the overview of the legislative slate for the past three years. The clock is ticking and the bomb is going to go off to eliminate EBRs and with them, all semi-auto long guns from this state as soon as humanly, legally possible. So do the math and make sure that your cash outlay is worth it to you to own a new gun in this state for probably less than 2 years before you have to sell out of state, store out of state or surrender it to the state.

I've got a very nice pump action 223 AK. I'll sell it to you or anyone else before 2019.
